A Simple Gesture NoVa is now a 501(c)(3), a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. A Simple Gesture was originally created and sponsored by Shoreshim Jewish Community and we’ve been incredibly successful over the years, thanks to our many wonderful volunteers and donors.

Because of our growth, we’ve separated A Simple Gesture from Shoreshim and have created our own 501(c)(3). This is simply an administrative change and donors and volunteers will not notice any changes. We’ve also created a board of directors. Both these efforts – the establishment of a 501(c)(3) and the board of directors – are to ensure A Simple Gesture can continue to serve our community today and well into the future.

Every year, A Simple Gesture collects approximately 25,000 pounds or $300,000 worth of food, which is critical to our community. Many thanks to our donors and volunteers who make give so generously to make A Simple Gesture happen.
